A Quick Overview of the Sample Kindergarten Class, Saturday, March 26th, 2011
updated 16 March 2011
|
How will it work?
- Families arriving at PS261 (no more than 10 minutes prior to appointment time)
proceed directly to the CAFETERIA on the ground floor.
- You'll find your child's name on a list at the tables - please sign in and
sit at the appropriate table.
- Contact phone numbers will be listed next to your child's name -
please circle (or write in) a mobile phone number in case we need to
reach you (we haven't had to call one yet).
- Remove your child's nametag sticker from the sheet on the table, and
place it on your child's clothing so that it is clearly visible.
- PS261 Parent Coordinator Jerry Piper will welcome families and explain a bit
more about the process.
- The Kindergarten Teachers (4 teams of 2 teachers each) will arrive
at the tables, introduce themselves, and will ask their applicants to
line up and follow them just down the hall to their respective
Kindergarten classrooms (classrooms are right next door to the
Cafeteria).
- Parents REMAIN AT CAFETERIA TABLES (the children will do fine -
the adults typically need reassuring!)
- Once teachers & children are settled in their classrooms,
parents will be asked to leave (temporarily) and are invited to explore
the many wonderful shops in our Boerum Hill neighborhood (many are just around
the block; map will be provided).
- Approx. 30 minutes later, parents will return to PS261 and WAIT IN
THE MAIN LOBBY for a few moments.
- Once teachers are ready, parents will be invited into the K
Classrooms to reunite with their children, and are then welcome to
leave at any time.

Please Note: Participation in this Sample K Class DOES NOT
guarantee your child a spot in the PS261 2011-2012 Kindergarten Class.
