My name is Michael Jasmin and I am the director of the PTA's new AfterSchool Program. Outlined below are things parents need to know regarding afterschool this year.

After-School Schedule
Afterschool is open every day school is in session, beginning at dismissal and ending at 6:00 p.m. sharp. After 6:00 p.m. parents will be charged $1.00 for every minute they are late. The first day of school is the first day of afterschool. The first week will be open session only. Classes begin on the first Monday in September. On half days, open session afterschool will be offered to children who are registered for that day until 3:00 p.m. at no extra cost, and for an addition fee until 6:00 p.m. Parents of children who do not attend afterschool on that day may speak with me about their child attending. Every effort will be made to accomodate these children.

Parents who find they need afterschool from time to time may register for the year and put the child in open session on a given day from time to time.
Parent Hand Book
There is a Parent Handbook that provides more detail on the program.

Registration
The registration fee is $25 per family. Registration i s open and ongoing, but the faster you return a completed activity sheet, the sooner we'll be able to determine how many classes we need to run, and the more likely your child will get his or her first choice.

Payments
The daily fee is $14/day for your first child and $12/day for each additional child. Monthly payments are due the first day of every month. Checks/money orders should be made payable to P.S. 261 PTA. You will receive a monthly invoice. Payment for September will be due on the first Monday of the year, which is the first day of scheduled classes. Parents are billed for days the child is registered whether he or she actually attended or not. In other words, if your child is absent one day, you are still responsible for the payment.

Parents are responsible for bounced checks in the amount of $25.00. If a family bounces a check, only cash payments will be accepted thereafter.

Pickup Procedures, Rules & Regulations
For security purposes, parents/guardians must enter and exit the building through the front entrance and not the side doors. You'll be asked to sign a pickup sheet upon arrival to verify you have picked up your child/children. In the event you've designated someone else to pick up your child, please submit the notification in writing in advance to alert our staff, or call me in an emergency. Be advised that students' schedule cannot change week to week. We reserve the right to remove a child from an activity if he/she becomes disruptive to others. In any event, you will be notified in advance if a problem should arise.

I have an open door policy. I'm here for the kids, so please bring me any suggestions or concerns you may have. All suggestions will be carefully considered and changes made according to what is best for all the participating children.

I look forward to meeting each of you and working with your children this year. This promises to be a great experience for us all.

Very truly yours,
Michael Jasmin
