The children are taking chess lessons in this PS 261 Lunch Club. According to Parnell, a third grader, "This is the coolest." Each Tuesday and Thursday at the school's two lunch periods, over thirty children from gardes K-5 are getting instruction from three different chessmasters. Sarah Browne, a fifth grader, likes that it really makes you think and concentrate. Malik Riley says excitedly that he can now play chess at home with his cousins. Ruby Guzman states, "It is a quiet space for me to think and learn in an otherwise noisy and busy day."
